29 Prime

29 Prime is not affiliated or associated with Google in any way.

As a web developer and search engine optimization professional, I own many websites. Many of these websites are located on the 1st page of Google and so I cannot begin to explain how many times I get solicited in a day. Often times it is a recorded call claiming that I have won a free trip, or that my business listing needs to be updated with Google. For the most part I ignore these phone calls and move on with my day. Today was a little different. I received the same old call that I get almost every day that sounds little like this, “if you would like your business to be listed on the first page of Google, please press one“. I went ahead and press one, I simply wanted to know which company was calling me and implying that they were part of or associated with Google. I was connected with a representative right away.

When the representative got on the phone, she asked me if I would like to be listed on the first page of Google. I asked her which company she was with and that is when things got difficult. She would not answer my question and asked me why I was being difficult. I told her that I was not interested in having my business listed on the first page of Google, however as required by the Federal Trade Commission I was interested in knowing who was calling me. She began to explain to me that the do not call list does not apply to businesses. Completely irrelevant, however I already knew this.

During our phone conversation which only lasted a matter of seconds, I asked her at least two or three times to identify herself and her company. She would not do this and proceeded to hang up on me. The phone number that I received the automated phone call from was (704) 220-0645. I completed a reverse search through Google on this phone number and found many complaints about a company called 29 Prime. Most of the complaints were about the calls themselves.

I decided to look the company up online and was able to find their website at www.29prime.com. I called the phone number listed on their website and asked for Wendy which was the name of the representative that I had spoken with previously. The reception is connected via Wendy and I could tell from the sound of the voice on the other end of the phone that this was definitely the person that had just hung up on me. I explained the Wendy I would like to talk with her supervisor and that it was unprofessional of her to hang up on me. I explained that she needed to identify her company when calling and that is when Wendy told me that she was the supervisor.

Explained Wendy that I would be contacting the Federal Trade Commission in regards to their sales practice and also the self-regulatory organizations that were listed on their homepage. Currently they show that they are a member of SEMPO and a couple of other organizations.29 Prime
